Re: Flasher Fizzle
The fact that the flasher doesn't work with the parking lamps lit
indicates the bulbs are most likely not grounding in the sockets - go to
the parts store and buy some 1157 or 1034 (slightly brighter) bulbs and a
" battery cleaning brush " this is a little tin brush that has a male
bristle brush custom sized to clean bulb sockets - paint it with spray
paint so you'll know it's NOT to be used on the battery . clean the
socket untill it's shiny inside , blow the dust & chips out , wipe on a
coating of Silicone Dialetric compound to prevent this problem from
re-occurring and that should fix it - I'd do the rear taillights too -
replace any bulb that shows ANY discoloration on it's base - do not
attempt to clean the bulb base ,it's false economy . bulb must be shiny
copper all the way around , usually there's a bit of white or black on or
near the locating ' tits ' on the base .
Go buy a new , two prong flasher ! .
