Re: Notes On Wiper Motor Repairs

Oops , sorry - it is tech shorthand for " assembly " , sometimes written
as 'assy.' .

As I was working with two wiper assemblys complete , I just cribbed "
ay.'s " .

Glad the writeup was of interest , if I left out anything , let me know
- it's not a difficult job , just time consuming and lots of tiny little
doo-dads to loose if you're not careful .

90 % of fixing these typ of things is to clean , clean , CLEAN , then
lubricate well with good quality lubricant - it is worth noting that one
gearbox ay. was originally lubed with white Lubriplate , I don't think
that is a good gear / bushing lube , though it is likely good for the
cable end slider channel . it (the white grease) was all dried out and
crumbly - not lubing anything anymore . the other gearbox was lubed with
regular low quality low temp. (brown) bearing grease , that still was
squishy but had not clung well to the
gears .

I will get back to the cable and tramsmissions after I fix the broken
axle .
