Re: BORGWQRD GERMAN CAR
Nate
The Isetta was made in 1953 by the Italian Iso company but in 1954 BMW took
over the production rights.
Borgward made a number of different models, including the Isabella and many
trucks, from about 1920 to 1961 when it ran into financial trouble for the
last time. At that time a BMW man was appointed receiver. In 1963 the
equipment to make the Isabella was sold to Mexico.
Carl Borgward himself was a Nazi and used many "enforced labourers" to work
his plants during the war. He was imprisoned by the Americans in
Ludwigsburg after the war.
