If you want a car to be original - you stay with original. If you want
it to be customized/personalized there are no limits except good taste.
If you want the car to be modified, good taste is again you limit.
original is 100% original - replaceables accepted (tires/battery/etc)
restored original - is restored to original or near original
Custom/personal - paint/body/interior/modifications
modified - drive line modifications

There are Mets with Ford, Datsun, Chevette, 350s and 454s, 1800 Austin
(usually for the auto trans), 1800 MG is still and Austin engine, aye?

The MegaMet has a Jag driveline, 16-1/2" in back and 15" in front,
terrific stereo, wheelie bars, and much more. It was built to be Bill's
toy - and it is quite a toy!! It still LOOKS as a Met looks, too.
There ARE a couple of kids in IOWA/Indiana that have a MET with a 454,
stretched hood, frenched front and rear. This is a Met ProAm (?) that
again is a toy for them. The difference between the Megamet and Elmer
Pokrant's (Datsun power) or Dick Dutton's (1800 Austin) is mostly the
dollars spent.......none are original -- all a nice!!

I agree, I would sooner see more restored originals than customs etc
but-------- I have one of each....
