I have no intentions of putting in a separate and probably "tacky" light switch in my Met. My car is 99 & 44/100 % original. I plan to keep it that way. I still cannot imagine how someone turns their lights on when they turn the key. If you have a replacement knob, use it. Sounds like it will solve your problem.
