First it is a very nice style of the time, in fact it was quite a while before I realized it wasn't original. It sets to the right of the radio, goes straight out into the engine compartment. The gauge is connected near the top of the radiator, about 1 to 1 1/2 inches down on the back side. Now cometh the rub, you may or may not have a connection there. Mine was on when I got the car and this may also have been added. It is a hex head. I'm sure there are several other places for connections points if there is nothing there on your Met. One more suggestion, as the work progresses, don't overlook the hood connection. Many have failed at highway speeds, replace it with something that won't give way on you.
