----------------------------------------------------------------------------- POKE Mission 97 For Nintendo Gameboy (c) Anders Granlund 1997 Original Atari ST code is copyrighted to Anders and Leif Granlund 1991 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- DECICATED TO LEIF GRANLUND ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- --> You may copy this game to whoever you want, but please make sure that this document goes with it, please! --> Please let me know what you think of the game, my Email is at the end of the document. --> If anyone is interessed in the sourcecode, please Email me and I will send it to you. It's the first time I program in assembler, so don't expect it to be well-done in any way (It's actually kind of crappy). ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- !! This is the FINAL release of the game. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- !! Special thank to Michael J. Mika and Jeff Frohwein for testing this !! game on the real Gameboy and for all the GREAT help the have given me! !! Thank you very much! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- SOME HISTORY OF THE GAME ------------------------ The first version of POKE Mission was written in 1990-1991 by Anders and Leif Granlund. It was written in STOS-Basic for the Atari ST. A couple of weeks ago I discovered the Dr.Pan of Anthrox document, and became more and more interested in programming on the Gameboy. I have never used assembler before, but thanks to the excellent document I soon learned how to use sprites, background, etc... There has been two official demo-versions (ver0.1 and ver 0.2) released before this FINAL version was completed! GAMEPLAY -------- The rules of the game are simple: You controll the 'paddle' at the bottom of the screen, you can only move left and right. If you press A or B you fire a ball. At the top of the screen, a 'catcher' is moveing left and right, if you hit the catcher five times you advance to the next level. You get 25 points for each hit. When you have reached 3000 points you will be rewarded with an extra life! If an enemy hits you or your own ball hits you, you loose one life. There are 50 levels to conquer, so don't waste you time reading this, get to work! Have fun... Button What it does ------ ------------ A Fire the ball B Fire the ball START Pause the game amd take you to the save menu Left Move paddle left Right Move paddle right SAVEING YOUR GAME: ------------------ Just hit START during play, this will pause the game and bring you to a menu looking like this: PAUSED -> CONTINUE <- SAVE Use SELECT, UP or DOWN to change position of the arrows. START, A-button or B-button selects current option. Continue - takes you right back to the action...
